Hispano Tex attains GOTS certification
Setting the Gold Standard for Sustainable Textiles
At Hispano Tex, we are thrilled to announce our latest achievement in our ongoing commitment to sustainability and responsible textile production. We have recently been awarded the prestigious Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification.
This is a significant milestone for us, and we are excited to share with you what this certification means and how it aligns with our dedication to producing eco-friendly, ethical, and high-quality textiles.
What is the GOTS Certification?
Sustainable fashion, ethical clothing, and fair production are terms often used in the world of textiles, but their meanings can sometimes be vague or confusing. GOTS, the Global Organic Textile Standard, provides a clear and comprehensive framework that addresses these concerns. It is the leading worldwide standard for the processing of textiles made from organic fibers, encompassing both ecological and social criteria. What sets GOTS apart is its rigorous certification of the entire textile supply chain, ensuring that products meet specific standards.
GOTS certification encompasses a wide range of textile products, including fiber products, yarns, fabrics, clothing, home textiles, mattresses, personal hygiene products, and even textiles used for food contact. This certification signifies our commitment to sustainability and responsible production across our entire product range.
What Does GOTS Certification Mean for a Product?
When a textile product bears the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certification, it signifies that the product has been grown in accordance with stringent ecological and toxicological guidelines. This process strictly prohibits the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, ensuring that the final product is both eco-friendly and safe for consumers.
Distinguishing GOTS from OCS
You might have heard of the Organic Content Standard (OCS), and it’s important to differentiate it from GOTS. The primary distinction lies in the processing requirements. While OCS focuses on the organic content of the materials, GOTS takes it a step further with additional processing requirements.
Raw Material Requirements: OCS requires that more than 5% of raw materials meet recognized organic standards, whereas GOTS imposes more stringent criteria. GOTS mandates a minimum of 70% organic natural fibers, with no blending, and allows for up to 10% synthetic or recycled fiber.
How to Achieve GOTS Certification?
Obtaining GOTS certification is a rigorous process that involves adhering to specific guidelines and regulations throughout the entire textile supply chain. It encompasses aspects like sourcing organic fibers, environmentally friendly and socially responsible processing, and stringent quality standards. Hispano Tex has successfully met these requirements, and we are proud to be among the trusted GOTS-certified textile manufacturers.
With our newly acquired GOTS certification, Hispano Tex reinforces its commitment to eco-conscious and ethical textile production. We are dedicated to providing you with high-quality products that reflect our passion for sustainability and responsible manufacturing. Moreover, this prestigious certification joins our existing ICEA certifications, further solidifying our position as a reliable source for sustainable textiles.
