NEW Series REUSE and series CONVERT
The value of using recycled fibers and materials is increasingly being recognized in Home Textile industry as much as in Fashion Apparel world, since both consumers and producers environmental awareness is significantly building up, as people demand a zero landfill society and clean oceans.
Not only it is critical to create a consumption/production loop that enables to recycle polyester items indefinitely, but it is vital that natural materials are also recycled and reused, instead of letting them decompose in the landfills, which is a process that can take hundreds of years and may release CO2 into the atmosphere
Thus a sustainable textile business needs to learn to use recycled synthetic yarns as well as to reuse organic materials to really help generating permanent demand for both plastic waste and textile organic scrap.
Furthermore, using recycled materials is a huge decoration trend that keeps gaining strength through the years all over the world. It has been very popular, especially in commercial spaces, using recycled wood, cartoon, or reusing pallets, glass items and others…
Following this initiative, we have already developed two fabrics containing both recycled polyester from PET bottles and recycled cotton:
is a resistant plain woven with a panama structure made of 59% recycled polyester and 41% or recycled cotton. It is slightly greyish, as some of the yarns are dyed. Initially, we will use it as a base fabric for printing original designs. Series CONVERT will be printed on fabric Steel and will be presented next January in Heimtextil 2018.
has a canvas structure with 59% recycled polyester, 32% recycled cotton and 9% of acrylic yarn. It will be also used to print original designs collections: Series REUSE will be also presented in next Heimtextil.
Hispano Tex is so committed to achieve a sustainable production of textiles by using recycled yarns that we are working to get the necessary certifications now that we are developing fabrics containing recycled fibers: we are being assessed to achieve accreditation of Global Recycled Standard (http://textileexchange.org/integrity) as our aim is to specialize in offering quality sustainable fabrics that accommodate your relevant needs in Home textile manufacturing.
The desired effect of the GRS is to provide brands with a tool for more accurate labeling, to encourage innovation in the use of reclaimed materials, to establish more transparency in the supply chain, and to provide better information to consumers.
